Thirty years on from when we first started high school, and we'd weathered pretty well! This group of Beautiful Belles includes 4 Drs of Medicine and 2 PhDs. There were only a couple of us who hadn't completed a tertiary qualification (I started a BA but so far haven't finished it). I'm the rotund brunette in the middle of those standing at the back.
I have to confess that at the official dinner ours was the rowdiest table - and we were all such good girls at school!
(P.S. this Easter my dear Mum will be at my old school - for a National Quilters symposium)

It's even worse considering we were supposed to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus on that day. Naughty girls you are.
There were only 9 of us at the big Saturday night dinner. LOL - the next day I was talking to an older attendee who'd guessed correctly that our table was made up of women in their early forties!
P.S. Gomad - We?
I guess NZ (and it celebrations) is a lot more secular than CH.
Now there was no alcohol at the windup lunch at the school on the Easter Sunday........
It's incredible that you've kept in touch. I've no idea what my old schoolfriends are doing. To be honest, I was never happy at school. I was glad to see the back of it, but you lot obviously got on well otherwise this would never have happened.
"...rowdiest table..." Now why am I not surprised - honestly, you women. (Henry rolls his eyes)
Henry's dear darling Mum - confess I hadn't seen most of this group since leaving school when it ran out at the end on the 7th form in late 1982. but also must add this group of Women are the ones I was very happy to be in touch with again, and admire hugely.
Not a one of the nasty bullies and/or bitches from my 3rd and 4th form classes were there. I survived those years through choosing music - was the only one in my form class.
now, though haven't played it since 1982, I still have my Alto Saxophone.
the group that met up last year contains many of the really great people to know. Helps my (low) self esteem to know them again, and helps my dodgy mental health too.
Consider that there were 2 to 3 hundred of us that started in Feb 1978..
Henry - we were just contributing to the quiz on school knowledge. And we knew heaps of the answers but they kept choosing other tables. And we had been put on a table way off to one side - before they even knew what we were really like!
I've never been back to any of our school reunions. I live too far away for that. But I've heard tales!
Hard to believe you were all teens together isn't it? What a grand pic!
Ooooh school ! How I hated it.
However I wouldn't mind meeting up with some of my old school friends again.
I must have been a very naughty girl back then because I only get to hear about the school reunions after they have been held.
Good to hear you are feeling well enough to go to work.
gaulanhow fun for everyone to get together. It sounds like you had a blast. That is the best way to go over memories and be with dear friends. Who cares if your table was the rowdy bunch. You were just living it up and making more memories to cherish.
Blessings to you!
Since I see no rotund brunettes, where or where can you be? Good girls at school? As my mother would say, My Maiden Aunt! I'll just bet!
Loved the post
Sandi
hi there! I so enjoyed reading all the comments from you and lil' Zebbycat. Aren't animals so much fun and fill our hearts with love?
After I lost my Samson I didn't think I would be so in love with a dog again. Samson was a golden retriever I had from a puppy. He was born with only 3 legs but he was so well adapted. He was my companion and protector. Such a love and so devoted. So smart. When he was 8 years I had to put him down because his front shoulder had blown from carrying all his weight on that one side.
I have had a couple of dogs since then but I never felt completely attached. Now look at me.....
Blessings to you and Zebby today.
i found your blog from kalofagas blog. i was also at wgc - form 3 in 1979. i lived in wellington for the first 25 years of my life, now i live in crete, greece
Dear Med Kiwi, "what a hoot". In 1979 I was in the notorious 4CO. I survived that through doing music. I played clarinet and was, while at WGC, the sole saxophone player.
Funnily enough, I was back at WGC today. Big patchworker quilters symposium on, Mum down here for it, we went to look at one of the exhibitions.
Only teacher left from my/our time is Mrs o'Connar (long red hair, maths teacher). gail Heather from my year teaches PE.
Hope you have fun with the contents of my blog - I love your blogs food (drool, drool). happy Easter yet to happen over there.
oh - The Greek Ambassador to NZ lives next door to me. Yes, this is all the kiwi small world syndrome, I've had it for years
sending you much care, Michelle/Mickle
golly godh, what a teeny weeny world
i remember mrs oconnor. and i remember gail heather too!
a patchwork quilters symposium - sounds just up my alley, even though it's been 6 years since i did any quilting (i must get into it again)
and i LOVE what you said about the bullies and bitches - it's clearly obvious they don't make it in the end...
