December Fun in Wellington

On Saturday evening we had an earthquake - a 5.7! - which went on for 20 seconds. I hastily moved away from the full bowl of hot soup I'd just put on the table and moved to a doorway. Afterwards I checked on Zebby. He lifted his head from his snoozling to see what I wanted, then demanded some kittycat treats. So much for animals sensing that an earthquake is coming!!!

No damage here and only very little everywhere else the quake was felt.

Zebby would like you all to know that His human stupidly drownded another keyboard on Sunday. It was her latest after previous spills and this keyboard was supposedly spill resistant but proved other wise (what a waste of homemade ginger beer). The human bought another keyboard today and is keeping the plastic bag it came in over it for protection from herself.

So that was our Weekend.

That human had to go out today, right across town, for a medical check up with her wonderful surgeon. Just the 1 bus from here to there but I used 3 on the way back as I bought that keyboard, other boring human stuff and then groceries including Whiskas Tempatations cat treats. It rained the whole time and was especially heavy every time I had to walk somewhere. Thank goodness I was home, all safe and sound, at 5.30 pm when it became like a tropical monsoon - a deluge just in time for folks leaving work for the day!

Mickle would like you all to know that Zebby adores his catnip plant. Zeb lays down on his red bathmat (like in the photo above) and buries his nose in the plant, pulling it over and towards him. This is interspersed with His human brushing his furrs over and over in both directions(!) which Zeb so so enjoys now it is moulting season (maybe better called summer's extra-moulting season as Zeb moults all year around). There is much Zebby Cat puRRRRRRRumbling, at high volume, for a long, long time - and this is happening every evening.

And so that was our* soggy yet happy Tuesday, December the 6th 2011; how was yours?

*okay, Mickle's soggy day as Zeb spent nearly all day and evening on His bed that he permits me to share each night, bless him

Michelle thanks for your long email I will reply eventually :)
I ban all drinks on the table where the two laptops are. N sometimes forgets and I then yell at him LOL.
Hope all was well with your check up and I am really pleased there was no damage from the earthquake. There seems to have been a lot around your area this year. Look after yourself and Zebby. Diane xo

Dear Sandi - that is Precious (with the other daft name "hound" if other humans must) surely! Zeb just doesn't notice earthquakes - so is baffled by his Mickle's response, bless him,

Cute picture of Zebby! We had an earthquake this summer, which was very mild. Thor slept through it, and believe it or not, I was the only person in the whole house who noticed that the vibrations went in a specific direction! No real damage here, either, other than cracked plaster in one ceiling.

Funny how the rain just knows when you are going out :) Or want to hang the washing, or paint the house etc.

Hi to Zebby from a much larger Sprocket. (I think he might end up quite a big cat.)

Glad to hear you had no damage

Oh the joys of catnip. I remember how Pippin's cats would turn inside out with delight whenever we would shake out a bit of catnip onto an area of carpet. It was just this side of heaven.

I am so glad that nothing happened with the earthquake. I have never been in a quake. I can only imagine the emotions.

Blessings to you and Zebby this week in all you do.

I'm so glad you and Zebby are fine. I don't know what I would do without you two to make me smile and see reality at times.

Mickle, I'm so sorry to be late commenting on this. I thought I'd done so, but must have had a senior moment.

Very glad to hear that your and yours are safe and unaffected by the earthquake, though sorry you seem to be getting horribly wet weather like we are on the other side of the world. You do seem to be death to electronic equipment, don't you, but at least you're keeping the economy going. :-)

Dear Perpetua - it is only keyboards that I have consistently made into "ex-keyboards" through spilling liquids on them. This new one has a plastic bag over it, fingers crossed etc........

.... cos it is the economy of China that benefits from my unintentional keyboard damage. Hooray for a sound (if dry) sense of humour!

Those smaller tremors are always nerve wracking because you always pause worrying that there might be something worse coming in the next second or two. Glad all was well except, perhaps, for your nerves.

Christmas is almost here. I am so behind in doing my online shopping. India is so different...festive but I don't see many fir trees.
