Spring is trundling along

Not much to report - the washing machine is functioning again.

The spring blossom is out fully so the wind has increased.

My sister, Liz, is in Iceland for the week.

Zebbycat is snoring away under his quilt, and this week Wellington can expect

Next few days Help

Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri
15°C 15°C 14°C 13°C 15°C
11°C 9°C 8°C 8°C 7°C
So that's nice....

Postscript: South Africa beat the All Blacks at Rugby, to take the 2009 Tri-Nations championship. In Netball the Aussies beat the NZ Silver Ferns.

And a new defintion of optimism: A Kiwi buying a ticket for the fourth* day of play in the upcoming NZ vs Aussie Test Cricket Series.

Mickle a pessimist? Come on folks, I'm a realist with a dry sense of humour and a tiny inckle of hope!

*(Cricket Tests are scheduled to go for 5 days)

Hubby's brother's in-laws went to iceland once, and came back to report that half the people there look like hubby and his brothers: large and red. Hope Liz has fun. Enjoy your weather, and Let Zebby enjoy the sunshine!

Thor's depressed from another weekend of rain, and hoping the sun comes out after school...

Hi Marjie -

Liz will sort of be okay. Compared to me she has very fair skin - okay, compared to her lovely English beloved it's a sort pale tan, and it has been a sort of Summer in England. It has just been summer in Iceland too so maybe they'll have picked up some colour so Liz won't stand out too much!

(Liz is there on a research grant with some others from the UK)

Poor darling Thor. His human brothers better have exciting novels to read to him.

I'm home at last dear Mickle and I'm checking our weather. Wouldn't you know it - we're getting the summer temps we didn't have all summer!

I would LOVE to see Iceland. I'm only going to Montana tomorrow. It is beautiful, though. I heading up with a friend who is visiting from France. We are going to spend a couple of weeks with our friends hwo live on Flat Head Lake. They all have been in Hawaii for a week. I'm glad to have been here at the Oregon State Fair. Our Autumn has begun (not officially until the 21st, of course) and is turning the leaves. I have picked and frozen a peck of Italian Prune Plums, and made pear sauce.
Hope your good weather continues.
Cheers

Greetings from Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, Canada - a lovely place.

Condolences about the Silver Ferns. We did enjoy learning about netball, since we're huge women's basketball fans.

We, too, have Iceland on our must-see list. Be sure to let us know about your sister's trip.

Mary Z - I've just looked at the entry in Wikipedia for Netball - very extensive and informative.

For those who read this and follow basketball - top level netball is fast and furious too. For a non-contact sport, the players get some nasty bruises and grazes.

I'm very happy to report that, unlike the All Blacks, our Silver Ferns happily and proudly sing our national anthem out aloud, and know all the words to the Maori as well as the English verses (yes - shame on the blokes!!!)

Enough of a rave from Mickle, xxx
