Yes, the zucchini (Kamo Kamo variety - a Zucchini Kumi hybrid) has taken off!

I planted it in a recycling bin which can no longer be seen. As well as racing towards the steps and front door there is another part shooting off to the right.

So you'll understand why Zebby has given up any attempt of veggie guard duty -

much nicer to snooze on our bed, snuggled up to a favourite catnip soft toy (this is not posed - Zeb snuggled up to HIS purple toy all by himself).

Is the threat of the tsunami over for you?

Dear Mary - we didn;t get huge waves here, just water serging in and out of harbours, marinas and long inlets much faster than the normal tides do - i.e. serging in and out over half hour periods rather than half day tides.

Where there may have been serges affecting ships in port the ship went out to sea beyond the coast line well before the serges started.

All is okay here. Chile is the place that is suffering - though, like NZ, they have an incredibly good civil defence set up that kicked in straight away. And ours did as well, and proved its worth.

Super thanks and gratefulness for your concern,

Michelle xxx and Zebbycat (super snuggles and cuddles)

I can't wait to see the zucchini this plant produces...Zebby doesn't need to stand guard..it would soon overtake him!!

So much seismic activity in the world these days. Very scary.

Zucchini sticks! Sauteed zucchini! Zucchini bread! Zucchini cookies! You have such a feast coming! Zebby might even like the zucchini bread! Meanwhile, he has to guard that little purple toy.

I came home from my week away to find my garden is full of oversize zucchini - more like marrows now. Subsequently dinner last night was fish and steamed zucchini (three varieties). I think there are several more meals ahead of me this week to try get through them all.

Zebby looks totally worn out with zucchini guarding duty. Love the little purple snuggly thing.

He's so darn cute!
