Summer continues ...

.... and here it is currently 19C in temperature and 100% in humidity. No wonder Zebby and Mickle are wide awake at 4.20am.

Wellington doesn't do the super hot weather, but she is darned good at lowering the clouds down below the level of our wee home (about 600 feet above sea level), then leaving the clouds there for a day or two while they dispense drizzle and light, soggy rain.

Stop moaning Mickle - think of the incredible amounts of snow, and of the ice storms that have attacked much of the U.S., and that super-nasty tropical cyclone that has well and truely whalloped parts of Northern Queensland over in Aussie.

I will stop complaining about the weather here and try to convince Zebby to be understanding for my Aussie and Northern Hemisphere friends (wasted hope, Mickle - he's a Cat!)

Take care and stay safe, wherever you may be,

Mickle and Zebby

I suppose we have a lot to be thankful for really..... considering what Australia has been through and the terrible snow conditions in USA.
We are having stormy weather but it is warmer than it was. Wet drizzle though that gets everywhere. I can imagine Zeb not liking the wet weather. But he has some cosy quilts and covers so he can be spared from going out. Does he have a tray?

Word ver is *bunlit* now if it had been catlit......

Hello Mickle
Not that hot here in Melbourne today either - the cyclone up north has pushed a revolting rain band all the way through the middle of the country right the way down to here.
Yes, you did hear me moaning about hot and humid the other day but this weekend some parts of Victoria (like other states) have had enough rain recently to last us and them a lifetime - where I am has been drenched constantly for a couple of days. Puddles or more like enormous lakes keep apearing where none have been before and the noise on the roof is quite frightening when it come down suddenly rather hard and fast.
Its freezing today, most likely about 19c but after the heat that feels really cold.
BTW thanks for all that info in the email - am looking through it and working things out - but theres a fair while to go (November)
If its that cool Zebby has good reason to bunker down under his quilt.
Take care
Cathy

John - oh my, that's "triple layer woolley hat" weather.

Maggie - spoilt Zebby always has an indoor litter tray, he'll even come inside to use it then pop out again. But then again, he is shut in over night and when I go out plus he spends most of the day inside by choice.

Cathy - 19C and 100% humidity is unpleasantly warm overnight for Wellingtonians. We don't get Melbourne's weather extremes. The weather over your way seems to be overly compensating for all the years of drought, lol.

My sister-in-law is complaining it is 40C in Sydney, I would happily swop her for our chilly temperatures!! Never the less when i look around the rest of the world at the moment I think we should appreciate what we have. At least we have not got cyclones or floods. Hugs to you both. Diane xx

Dear Diane - 40C! not at all nice in Sydney, especially with the current high humidity.

I've "done" 43C but that was in Madrid in August 1987, and it was a very, very dry heat (so zilch on the humidity scale).

Now it is 18C and down to 93% humidity, so Zebby is back under his battered quilt in his secure zone.

Hi there. You are so wonderful! I could see your smile and humor even as you "grumbled".
Pippin and I were just talking today about how we love the clouds to come in and set as they shrink.

Blessings to you and dear Zebby!

Humidity is not my friend.

The temperature here has dropped from 29F at 7AM to 19F at 1PM. I am assuredly turning the heat up today, because the wind is howling outside. Thor is following Zebby's example and snoozing up a storm!

Its been ok here apart from a little rain every so often. I even got all the washing dry so that was a plus.

Skilly got photos taken by yet another bunch of tourists. She wasn't overly impressed but did manage to keep calm. She really isn't your social cat but she will insist on sitting on the chest in the hall just outside the shop room :)

I'll send a wish to the weather gods for some better weather :)

you have had a wonderful crop from the garden - the produce in the posts below looks superb; cant believe Wellington had a heatwave - I don't think I remember it ever being so warm!

we've had lots of rain in the past month, but now that it's stopped, its sunny and bright (with a freezing cold breeze blowing all over)...

I meant to let you know that I've changed blogs recently. I'm now with WordPress (not sure that was a good idea!) and have closed the old one. Here's my new home:

That's it! Go on. Rub salt into the wound! You are having a great summer whilst we here are suffering the cold, rain, wind, dark grey skies, depression, raging inflation, a sick government, etc., and to cap it all I burnt my porridge, split my beer, the cat scratched me and the postman brought me a massive bill. All this morning!

Love the sunset picture. Is that what it REALLY looks like? I've forgotten.

I'm going up the garden to eat worms . . . again!
