Five months on .......

Five months!

I had not planned or intended to be "non-blogging" for so long. That was all of Winter and most of Spring here in Wellington, New Zealand.

While I was away from blogland .......

Wellington got Snow in August, three days in a row!!!

Now this was an absolute novelty and joy here because the last time Wellington got snow anything like it was an over night snow shower back in 1976. YES - 1976.! Back then the Mickle was a mere 11 years old!

And we discovered together that Zebby Cat doesn't like snow - Mickle doesn't blame him in the least and I really appreciated getting to snuggle up to Zebby in our bed each night over the three nights when "the snow came".

I stick by my view of snow from the late 1960s when my dear Parents took a young me up to "The Snow" to experience it:

Toddler Mickle promptly announced "Its all COLD and WET"

- and you know I was right!!!

Zebby has slowed down quite a lot over this year - after all his guesstimated age is 13/14. He spends most of the day on His bed. From here he can supervise His human a lot and demand affection and food when ever He requires it.

See - Zeb is still the same:

Still sleeping in the bestest place each day (Zeb has taken over all the fluffy scarves I made for me, and that is fine because they wash easily!). This rescue cat is so very much loved.

Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US, and those everywhere else as thankfullness is a joy to experience and share.

I was SO pleased to see your blog pop up on my Google Reader, this afternoon.
Welcome back to the fun side.
I think I know how Mr. Z feels. I have slowed down from a few years ago. I try to do the same things I used to do and I get tired! can you believe it? I get tired. Oh, well he and I deserve retirement. Sometimes it is nice not to be the one in charge. To let others do for me. (only sometimes I wish I could get out there and run things again)
The snow looks lovely. It has been absolutely diluvial for the last 2 days. Wish it was cold enough to have turned it all to snow.

So nice to see you back. I was getting a little worried there. We got the snow in the bathroom! It was drifting into the shower when I was in there! Thats what happens when you choose the wrong weekend to do stuff to the wall (a new outside door).

Keep warm Zebby. Sprocket has grown into a teenager now. He is still a mad purrer though :)

Lovely to see you back in blogland, Mickle. I can sympathise with Zebby, as I too tend to prefer snow when viewed from inside as I get older. Here's hoping Wellington has to wait another 35 years for any real snow.

Welcome back, Mickle! That's a fair amount of snow. You'll have to make Zebby some boots!

Great to have you back and know you are OK. We have friends here in France with a 22 year that they brought out from the UK. He has been doddery for several years but is still doddering :) Take care Diane

Yep!! I missed you too, so glad you've decided to return to Blogland.
The Zebbycat is much like me in my old age Michelle, I like to be snuggled up in my bed and not move too far from it these days. My back complains loudly if I do too much at once, so cleaning the house takes a few days...in stages. The trouble with that is, its never finished (lol)

Good grief, Mickle, I wondered where on earth you have disappeared to in the blogsphere. Glad to see you back. If all goes well, on Dec 1, I head to India for a FOUR month visit.

Good to see you back. I didn't realise it was so long, probably because I've drifted off the blogosphere a bit too - doing books and suchlike.

It's good to hear you're all well, and the Zebster is taking things nice and easy!

Beautiful photo of the snow - what a winter wonderland!

Well, I think it's great that you got snow, to remind you of what you're not missing! My son Mike brought his cat Winston for Thanksgiving, and Winston is now 2 years old, 13 pounds, and afraid of noises. He very much enjoyed Mike's window, with a tree not 6 feet from it, containing birds and squirrels to amuse him. A sort of television for cats, if you will. I am happy to see you back (I've checked in at least once a week to look for you).

Dearest Mickle, what a wonderful Thanksgiving present it is to find you back :-) ...I've been worried about you, being away for so long...how happy I am to see you!

Now you're into Spring and I am going into Winter and bringing out the coats and boots...could we trade??! I suppose not, if I can't guarantee that it won't snow on you again (ha!)

Sweet Zebby looks so contented on the bed near the sunshine and snuggled on the scarves. So loved.

Kitterz and Gizmo are doing fine...Kitterz, now 2 years old has put on a few pounds and is now larger than Giz! They are still best pals, either they both think they're cats or both dogs...either way, they happily hang out together.

Hope your folks and sis are doing alright.

Take care of you.

love,
Elizabeth

Wow Michelle, now I see what you mean about the snow there! that was a lot.

Rescue cats are so spoiled! It is such a pleasure to see them relax and feel safe and I never cease to be touched by this. For a street cat to feel safe is a big shift. My baby had no voice when we met. Now she quietly talks to me sometimes.
