A pretty and useful gift

Isn't this mug pretty! It was a gift from my dear friend Pam for my fortieth birthday, 5 years and a few months back. The outside points to what to do.

Yes, take off the lid, pick some fresh herbs (or you can use a dried tea mix) and put them in the infuser. Pour over freshly boiled water, place the lid on top and then ...

after a few minutes remove the lid and then the infuser part (the lid makes a stand for the infuser). You'll be left with a beautful mug of very freshly brewed herbal tea. For this I used fresh mint leaves from my garden - soothing for the stomach and calming as you head off to bed.

Even without a specific mug like this, newly boiled hot water over fresh mint leaves makes a wonderful tea. Great hot or chilled, and wonderful for dodgy innards like Mickle's.

(My mint is still growing out there, but getting knocked back by the approaching winter - never mind, it will suprise me again in Springtime)

That is awesome! I haven't seen those before - will have to keep my eyes open and try and get one.

I have a mug the same as yours but different decoration on the outside, I use it for my green tea, but I never knew that the lid was for the infuser part to sit in afterwards. My mint has been assaulted by caterpillars, I can't seem to get rid of them.

Super thanks, dear bloggy friends, for such lovely comments. This method works well with lemon balm leaves too.

Marjie - please get the boys to plant your mint seeds in a pot. Even with your cold NE Pennsylvanian winters I'm sure the roots of a really stubborn mint plant would try to take over under the layer or 3 of snow you get.

Mint tea sounds heavenly. I loved the kind they served us in Tangier while we looked at carpets ( I never had any intention - or money - to buy but they kept refilling our cups so much I had to race back to the ship to the bathroom! )

At 65, I've done it! My poetry book - Life's Journey by Carmen Henesy - is out on Amazon!
( Poems about the things that have been important to me in my journey through life, some humorous, some sad, some that may have meaning to you as well )

That is a wonderful cup! I will have to keep my eye out for one like that. I love minty tea too. But I have never tried to do tea with whole leaves. I have just always had the bags from the store. I do have a growing curiosity for trying a more fresh flavor via tea balls. Funny huh? It takes me forever to try something out of "my box".
