The weather has settled into the usual springtime selection in Wellington - rain, cloudy, fine, sunny, windy or calm, sometimes all in the one day. Here on Thursday evening it is pouring with rain and calm. For the next 3 days the one consistant feature will be rain, and lots of it.
My radish and nastertium seedlings are out in it all. Zebbycat isn't. Instead he is hogging the heater in the living room before his next snoozle, content in the knowledge that there's clean kitty-litter in his litter tray and his tummy is full.
I'm happy that we're fully stocked with food and other supplies so I wont need to go out into it at all -apart from checking the letterbox, which is up the 54 nasty steep steps, and checking that the seedlings haven't drowned.

We call this April weather.
we're eating fall lettuce and watching the collard greens get tall. Mac has planted me broccoli and cauliflower and most importantly of all (because he doesn't care for "phoney cabbage") brussel sprouts! I adore them!! Hugs to the Zebbycat, he knows he is loved!
hugs to you, too!
Sandi
Perhaps rigging a little umbrella over the seedlings is what is needed.
We hardly had any rain here this summer at all. I drained the pool so that it watered the big trees that surround the barn. I hope it helps them. I was feeling terrible for them.
Glad it is more Spring like now.
Over here is definitely more wintery!
Zebby cat is quite intelligent by the sound of it, hogging the heater!
Nuts in May
Hello Mickle
Sounds the same as us over the ditch - 'cept for the sun bit. I reckon ours has gone on holiday, hopefully to return refreshed and ready to shine
Aims isn't far off the mark - maybe a shelter of some sort for the seedlings ( poly tunnel or shade cloth type thing over wire coathangers may be of some help) They woudln't get so wet then and you could remove it as the weather fairs up.
Don't forget the snail bait - the little so and so's love the rain and nice juicy soft green things lol
Take care
Cathy
I arrived home from two weeks in Europe, rather relishing the thought of cool San Francisco weather ( it had been over 80 in Barcelona and Rome ), to find sunny skies and almost 75 degrees here. I am longing for fog and cool temperatures!
Thor sends dry thoughts to Zebbycat. It is snowing here, which is 10 days earlier than I've ever seen snow, and I am quite irked! Now, we can get ready for your kitchen garden reports for the next 6 months, whilst I show you pictures of my snowy back yard. Hugs to you and Zeb, and snoring snoozle wishes from Thor!
