Valerie Wins Once More

Back in August I posted (several times) about Valerie Vili, a young NZ athlete who was competing in Shotput at the Beijing Olmpics. Valerie won the Gold.

Tonight in our annual sporting awards Valerie was named Sportswoman of the year. Her coach and mentor, Kirsten Hellier, was named coach of the year (yes, that's them pictured above).

Valerie then won the supreme Halberg Award (our highest sporting award).

Great to see her looking so happy, and so glamorous. The NZ Sportsman of the year went to the 2008 Indy Car champion, Scott Dixon.
