Footpath sign error 'a real balls up'
Monday, 08 September 2008
A new footpath sign in the Wellington suburb of Highbury has residents seeing red.
Old Bullock Rd has been mistakenly called Old Bollock Rd.
"I'm all for better signage for footpaths but at least they should get the name right," said one angry resident.
"This is a real balls up."
Wellington City Council spokesman Richard MacLean said the error was "astounding".
"Of course we'll change it. . . clearly our proofreading and English standards have fallen here."
He said a "full investigation" would be carried out.

As I understand a bullock has lost his bollocks, thus "Old Rd" would be sufficient. Everything could be solved with a tiny bit of paint. Can't the people there not show a bit of initiative. It's so easy to complain when you just could do the right thing instead.
Gomad, you've got it right. Before the Council get round to removing the sign it is bound to be stolen - definitely a collectors item. This even made the 6.00pm TV news. Most of us Wellingtonians think it is hilarious, just the laugh that is needed after an incredibly soggy winter.

That is SO funny!!
I say leave it, don't change it. It will become a great tourist destination, people will "come" from miles around to take photos. Debs x
