A Glorious Device

An instrument of torture?

No, a great kitchen tool that peels,

cores and

slices apples!

I gave this to dear Dad for Christmas and it was put to use immediately.

Wow, Michelle, that is really snazzy! You could do a whole orchard in record time!

Among my many and varied kitchen paraphernalia I have one of those exactly the same. I have used it ONCE. You see Michelle, I'm a "sucker" for shops selling kitchen gadgets, simply cant leave empty handed !! I have a son who takes after me. We both go anywhere near a Shop such as this and I'm sure it knows our name, it calls out "COME IN JOY (or Tony)"..... and there we are less money in our wallet.
The other place that I dare not cross the threshold of is a garden nursery, only if I want something specific. Dont go in just to have a look, or there you are again, BROKE!!
Glad your Dad has made good use of his apple peeler. I would use mine more often if only I had more visitors.
Take care. Cheers Joy.

Hi Joy - Dad often cooks up apples in the microwave to have with breakfast, so his apple machine gets regular use.

This gubbins is just wonderful id you are making lots of apple sauce (US version), stewed apple (NZ, UK and Aus)- is a brilliant replacement for butter or veg oil in muffins etc.. as you head towards low fat baking.

Yes, of course you cut down on the sugar because the apple sauce/stewed apple is vaguely sweet! Yummy baking will come you way m'dears

I have one of those, made by Pampered Chef. Mine has to be attached to the edge of the table, though. It is such a fun item! My little boys fight over who gets to peel the apple, and the guinea pig squeaks for the peelings. I never thought of cooking up apples fro breakfast, but now you're putting notions in my head, dear Michelle!

Huggles to you and Zeb, and Snores from Thor,
Marjie

Jumping up and down, waving my hands in the air.. I've got one of these!! Too funny, I should post about my kitchen gadget addiction, then come and find this here (giggle).

Er, I never seem to use it, of course..

Hello Mickle
Don't know how I missed this post - anyway I had one years ago and loved it but it got broken and couldn't be fixed. These days make do witha peeler/corer thingymajig which is nothing if not hopeless so peel with potato peeler and then cut with a knife.
Dh aunt in Canada has one - they live in Berwick the Apple Capitol of Nova Scotia (guess what the main crop is in that area??)so apples feature quite a lot in their diet - she wizzes through them in no time at all.
Do you have one?
Take care
Cathy

Cathy, i don't go through enough apples to warrant buying one, plus have nowhere to store it.

that is the thing about those kitchen gadgets - i refuse to put any more into my house becos of storage issues

ps - you can scent syrups and honey sweets with the perlagonium (rescue it- it's worth it!)

An apple corer/peeler/slicer ....they are so very cool.
I used to have one when the girls were little. It made snack time so much fun for them.

How fabulous is that!

But the gadget I use the most is a little egg timer gizmo that you pop in the water along with your eggs. It changes colour to tell you when your eggs are done. Too easy! And I get perfect hard boiled or soft boiled eggs - depending on what I want - every time! :-)

As for my favourite kitchen gadget, well, that'd be the husband! ;-)
