I've been spoilt

Last month my dear Folks gave me a waffle maker for my birthday, AND two wonderful books full of advice and patterns for knitting socks. Wow.

And I had some sock yarn in my wee yarn stash. The single balls are of New Zealand Marino sock wool. The other two balls are a Kaffe Fasset designed yarn.

Super, amazing suprise - last Saturday this arrived from the folks as well. I just couldn't wait. Having found a pattern I loved I went and bought the yarn too ...

A hand dyed worsted marino yarn in the equivalent here of a double knit (needle sizes 4mm to 5mm)

Converting a skein to a ball took about an hour for one. The ball is huge, as shown beside an ordinary (yet super scrummy) apple. My Zebbycat was very bored with this going on, he attempted sleep in our living room, then retreated to the comfort of our bed in the room next door.

And I've already started knitting the wrap, with 2 1/2 pattern rows completed (25 rows of the 10 row pattern). Photos soon, I promise. This 100% NZ Marino yarn is so lovely to handle and knit with, even in our summer heat.

And super luck - Zebbycat now mostly ignores it when Mickle is knitting. That bed is sooooo much cosier to snuggle and snore/snoozle upon.

Wishing you all happy and peacefull times, Mickle and my Zebbycat (looking very cute as he washes his face and chin)

Welcome to my world of knit-nuts! I'd LOVE to get my hands on some real NZ merino wool. I'll have to get some of that next time we're there.

Regia is a great sock yarn - I use it a lot. I love the stuff that makes its own stripes. I wear hand-knit socks all winter long. My particular favorite is a wool/bamboo blend. YUM!!!

I love the colour and hope to see some photos of the emerging wrap soon.
I have had little cats swinging from the end of knitting needles in the distant past! Glad Zebby cat doesn't do that now.
it is a pleasure for parents to indulge their children sometimes. Yours gave you some lovely presents.

It is so wise to take provision for those long and stormy winter nights. Is it getting colder already?

I have vague memories of standing in front of my nanna as she wound a skein of wool onto my outstretched hands. I think she washed the wool then. You have trained Zebby well, my boy thinks anything to do with wool, cotton, or fabric is a game just for him.
Photos of waffles coming??

Lucky you ! Great pattern books. I'm looking for a super pattern book of aran sweaters. they seem to have gone out of fashion. But I'm a very old fashioned girl, the emphasis being on the "old"

Have fun with your shawl, looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I'm surprised that Zebbycat isn't trying to play with your yarn ball! When I used to crochet, a lifetime ago, and had cats, I kept my yarn in the skein form, because the cats would steal the balls of yarn!

Your yarns are all very pretty, especially the maroon one, and I can't wait to see what you make!

Dear Friends

Zebbycat has tried to interfere with knitting - wanting at least one hand from his significant human payiong attention to him; and Zeb would swing on the strait knitting needles and claw at the ball of wool.

Mean Mickle has thwarted all that by buying and then using circular knitting needles (no long horizontal needle to swing on), and careful placement of yarn inside ziplock bags - partially zipped.

Peace reigns! Zebby gets his pats, brushing and cuddles. My knitting is almost Zebbycat hair free - Almost!
