Got started this afternoon while the Folks went to a wedding. The gas hob is now gleaming, the shelves all shiny, and you can see your face in the glass on both sides of the oven door.
However, as I accidentally knocked the oven on without realizing while cleaning the outside of the cooker, the actual oven was too hot to clean!
Needed to have it working order for tonight's dinner........... so will clean the internal oven bit tomorrow.
Other progress:
- I've removed and disposed of all the deceased items from their fridge.
- The glass teapot and coffee plunger also now gleam.
- I completed the reconaissance mission while home alone.
So is my home a thing of tidiness and cleanliness? No way. But I don't have 37 guests coming (okay, to be honest you couldn't fit 37 guests into my wee home) .
Have a glorious weekend wherever you are.

You're a GOOD daughter, Mickle. Once when our girls were here, I heard a "commotion" in the kitchen. I checked, and they were in the midst of cleaning the refrigerator. Imagine that! But I did love having the job done.
Hi Mary,
We've never gone in for Mothers and Fathers day gifts.
When I was working but still living at home I would clean the oven for Mum each Mother's Day.
The Folks retired to another (warmer) City in 1990. This year I offered to "clean the Fridge or the Oven". Mum chose the oven but guess I'll do both! It was her 72nd birthday on Fri 29th, so all part of her gifts.LOL - much laughter here anyway.
Care and huggles, Mickle
Yes, you are a good daughter. Such a thoughtful and much appreciated gift. I always find it less "work" to clean other people's kitchens than it is to do my own. I guess it is just the novelty.
Polly has a co-worker who leaves her leftover lunches in the fridge at work. Polly calls them Darwin experiments. She was asked several times to remove her trash. (she also leaves her dirty dishes in the sink for others to wash) Finally, it got so bad that the BIG boss told her, in no uncertain terms, to get her s**t out of there before they all got poisoned! (it had been in there for 3 months) She took her stuff out, but didn't wipe out the drips and goo left behind! What a slob. No one likes her and she is rude to the volunteer workers and is incompetent in her work, too. Oh well, as they say, there's one in every crowd.
I'll bet you are looking forward to seeing all these people coming for the big event. Sounds like a grand occasion. I hope you will be busy with your camera and post lots of pictures.
Take care and get lots of rest. Can't have you down for the party.
What a good girl you are, would you like to come for a visit to my place?
I'm a tad older than your Mum. :-)
Dear Priscilla - yes, is always far nicer to be cleaning some one else's place! Have aslo come acroos some pretty disgusting food "lack of hygiene" in others too. My first job was as a part time motel cleaner (while in last year of secondary school and my then 2 year attempt at University study) My current work place has of constant kitchen vigilence by managers (female, of course)
Actual cleaning of oven was a breeze - 10 minutes max. Then Dad had to work out how to put the oven door back on
Dear Olive - hey, I would love to visit your place, but only in midwinter. I don't do high temps at all well. Hope the new hip is working in a fine fashion for you.
Dad asked where in South Australia you are. Told both the Folks tonight - they've been on a bus tour all around there, Knew exactly where I was talking about.
One day ,dear friends, Mickle will be well enough to work almost fulltime. AFter a bit or so of that travels will be planned. Confess is also likely to only be after old Zebbycat has gone to our maker.
Am I a good daughter????
Happily admit to being Stroppy Daughter No. (#) 2.
Oh Mickle! How lovely to do that for them.
There's nothing like clean - anything - really! I'm a bit anal like that. Okay - a lot!
