May Already? - Who Did That!

Mmm, still here in Wellywood, weather the usual fickle Autumn stuff. Knitting of the scarf for dear sister's partner is progressing.

Is in a yarn made from bamboo. Very nice to handle - smooth and silky. Is just this particular yarn is of a fine nature (non knitters - is thin) - knitting on UK size 10 (3.25mm metric diameter) knitting needles. Now onto the last ball of yarn, would love to knit away for hours but hands wont stand it/ like it/ wont work for much else if I do so.

So Mickle knits while TV watching in the evenings - and while Zeb is sleeping soundly under his quilt. Is Zeb's choice of an evening place to sleep just now. Means I don't have to deal with Zeb attacking and swinging on the "other" end of the knitting needles. Yes, I have circular needles, just not this fine.

And............ breathe, Mickle. xxxx

The bamboo yarn is SO wonderful! I use a blended bamboo/wool yarn for socks. Beautiful colors, too.

Hello Mary,

I'm loving the bamboo yarn.

Next up I will make my first ever pair of socks with a 75%wool/25%synthetic. I'll use straight needles to start with. I have a set that came from Dear Dad's Mum, Grandma to me. Dad remembers Grandma knitting socks with the 4 needles.

Needing to clothe a husband and then 3 sons born during the 1930s Grandma would have needed to knit socks.

(btw - dear Mary, my folks are of the same generation as you. And their 50th wedding anniversary is next month. At which time they will be 78 years young (Dad) and 72 years young (Mum).)

Cheers,

Mickle/Michelle and my once again snoring cat, Zebby

Oh, dear, I'm really worried that the NZ Wool Board (or what ever you have there)will come and cart you off for not using real wool! After all sheep are what you all are known for - in the outside world.
Actually what a great idea. I see so many things made from bamboo. Such a wonderful sustainable product.
Be sure you post a picture when you are finished.

Dear Priscilla - even better, I hope to post a picture of the new owner wearing it. As both he and the folks have digital cameras and we'll all be together in a month there is a good chance of this.

I do have 3 skeins of NZ merino wool (with 25% synthetic for strength) for my sock making efforts.

Currently chuckling to myself - old Zebbycat has just started snoring once more.
