Noticed an unusual "situation" on Zebbycat's lower left lip. Swollen and distended, oozy with gunk.
Luckily got an appointment at his Vet Centre this afternoon, and Zebby lad was lucky enough to get one of the owners of the practice, lovely vet Seton ( and this bloke is wonderful, has a really natural way with pets and their pesky humans i.e. mickle).
Dear, darling Zeb has an abscess there, right where his upper left "fang" comes down. Probably from a claw whack from another cat.
Zebedee Cat was amazing though out the vet session. Only minor squirms when his temp was checked (okay, normal, squirms and the temp). And very laid back when he was given two (yes, Henry in France - two!) injections to deliver immediate dose of antibiotics and then an anti inflammitory for pain relief.
And Zeb has lost some weight - he is now less than 7 kilos. A much loved rescue cat, he delivers such care and affection to me....
The news from Victoria in Aus just gets worse and worse - toll 181 confirmed dead last time I checked the news here. Vic Police sadly fear it will become much higher.
That individuals went out and lit fires on purpose......................... anger and rage, and disbelief,
waa, what, what the f**k, why.......................
Is raining here at last. While we need it, Weather Gods - Victoria and South Australia and New South Wales need it more.
Yes, Anger, astoundedness, rage, disbelief
I have raved and raged way too much here, yet is how i am feeling.
Off to snuggle down with Zebbycat, the now healing lad. He seems to have realised his visit to his Vet centre was really needed. My dear daft darling tried, but he can only hide a health problem for sooooo long.
he is now happily washing his face on that side - yahooooo. His tablets are liver flavoured so I can easily put into his fodder. Now I'll stop rambling too......... and go to snoozling land with my Zebby

Snowy says get well soon to Zebbycat. She had an abscess under her chin a few years back and because of her long fur I didn't spot it. She only nibbles at food occasionally, used to drink from pots of water outside an slept most of the day anyway.
Thankfully I happened to put my hand under her chin - raced her to the vet's as it was summer and I didn't know when she'd last had a drink and they kept her in and lanced it.
When Cid had his on his leg he licked it repeatedly and I put a warm compress on it and it burst on it' own. It healed by it's self but Cid did keep it open for a long time and I checked both it and him frequently.
Agree with you about arsonists - they are sick.
Glad you found the abscess in time so that Zebby didn't have to have the tooth removed...dentures are heck on cats!
Wow, liver flavored pills to be put in the food dish...that's wonderful! Have you ever put a pill down a cat's throat??! I sure have, after many tries and lots of scratches...then there was the pink antibiotic liquid...my dear Nikki squirmed so much that I got more on me than in her! Nikki was hyperthryroid in the last 3 years of her long life (19 years) and her medicine was an ointment (specially prepared by a pharmacy) that was rubbed into her ear every day. She didn't complain...it gave "mommy and me" bonding time :)
Hope Zebbycat continues on the mend.
Understand your rage about the fires...it some were set...tragic.
Deborah and Elizabeth - Zeb is a right little wotsit at hiding that he is unwell. 3 years ago he hid a previous abscess on the right side of his face until it burst.
Luckily is only his lip that is affected. His jaw and the teeth close by are working fine - he has continued to pull holes in his quilt with his teeth. He is happily eating food with the tablets hidden in and demanding my attention frequently - as usual.
Latest from Aussie - some low life are out looting empty properties. Mutter, mutter....... and there are still at least 23 fires out of control.
Glad to hear your Zebby is recovering. Its always distressing (to the owner as well as the poor pussy) to have a sick animal.
Sincere thanks, Olive.
Gosh - you've had a sad time with the baby Alpacas. Hope the next 2 wee ones make it okay.
And that you get some decent rain soon. Rained here all day Thursday while I muttered "your falling on the wrong side of the Tasman Sea".
This morning our news showed a small bright moment in the Aussie firefight, maybe you saw it...a firefighter found a Koala Bear moving along the ground in a burned out area and offered it his water bottle. The little Koala took hold of the bottle with one paw and drank and drank! He has been taken to a Wildlife Rehab and having his burns attended too. The news clip of the firefighter holding out the water bottle and the Koala gently reaching out a paw, was soooo touching. I know it doesn't fix things, but it was a simple, heartfelt moment. Maybe you'll get to see it!!
Hope Zebby continues to mend. Is he snoring?
Yes, we've seen it. This was from a fire about a week before the Saturday firestorm. The Koala is now living with the firefighter's family
