NZ Rural Firefighters Ready to Help in Aussie

have just heard on a radio news report some info that backs up my previous post. En Zed's Rural Fire Service has an agreement with Aussie equivalent. And right now there are 60 En Zed RFFs ready to go at short notice to Aus, should the Aussie bods want help.

In the past our Fire Fighters have gone to provide relief, decent breaks for Aussies own firefighting crews.

Please do not assume that the downunder firefighters are all Blokes - Women work as firefighters too.

Yes, bush fires happen most years in Aussie, and in NZ, only this time the heat wave over in Aussie is very extreme.

So spare them all a thought at least........ and I find am very uncomfortable in 19 degrees C at 2.18 am (on Sunday the Oneth of February).

The Rural Fire Service herre deal with the bush, scrub, farm land and forest type fires, even within a city. Have a look at the photo in my header - if this bush went up in flames the Rural Service would run things, even if they used the NZ Fire Service fire fighters.

What ever climate and seasonal conditions you are in, please take care, please.

Female firefighters? You're trying everything to kill my naughty fantasies.

In Siberia I met smokejumpers - that is, firefighters that parachutes into a remote area to combat wildfires read about them. Do they have a similar approach down under?

That is wonderful. I've never met a female firefighter before.
The heat in Australia has made the news here and we have heard how traffic lights have stopped working & railway lines are buckled. That is bad!
Thanks for visiting my blog!

Dear Maggie - confess have been visiting for a wee while. Found you via the amazing Cath (who aint crazy)

I sincerely hope your lovely Daughter and her dear Sons are doing okay. What a husge lot they have been through. May 2009 be a healing year for them.

Dear Gomad - my dear cousin A's ex-husband is a fire fighter. When the NZ Fire Service's first calendar came out I said "No way will A let her husband, D, be in it" - yet he was, I was wrong, D looked amazing and A woz okay with it.

They've moved on in their lives since the split, yet I'm happy to tell that both A and D are doing well and are still each very good looking.

Women Fire Fighters - you'd better believe it coz they are here, and in Aussie. And very beautiful women that you wouldn't want to mess with.

Now a little cooler here, at 3.30am. I might even be able to sleep soon.

postscript - Gomad - I will check out the fire jumpers link - are they anything like the daft tornado chasers in the US?

We scraped ice on the car, this morning, before we could leave. It was in the low 30's this evening. Wish I could send you some.

When this calendar sells, they are really worth having naughty fantasies about. Is there also a female Rural firefighter calendar?

Gomad- in the past only seen ones with blokes in. Will keep a look out for them for you. Hope your Mother has a really happy 77th Birthday,

Care and warm huggles to G and T and your families.

Priscilla - have kept my dear Dad updated with your weather reports. We both think that Portland is having a mighty chiily winter this time. Please keep warm and cosy, care and huggles to you and family.

Is cooler here in Wellington, fire still causing problems up near Mahia.
