The leaves on my Grape Hyacinths are now six inches high. The creeper that has spread itself right down the bank has flower buds forming. The hydraenga flowers have changed from bright blue to a deep rusty/wine red.
And just a week after I moved the spare jam jars to the basement - Quinces are in season! Bought my first today, quince jelly making next week.
Despite my not having been well enough to make it to work this year, I still have a job! I have an amazing Boss who understands my health problems and is an enormous source of encouragement. She values my knowledge and skills and considers I have some worth, and puts up with my warped, dry sense of humour - Wow. I'll pop in tomorrow to catch a presentation on some law changes that affect our work (and I know all about) and then hopefully I'll achieve some real work next week.
Meanwhile the cicadas are chirping very loudly and Zebby-cat has curled up on top of his beloved hairbrush. Yes, it is "bristles up" - Daft Darling!

Oh, how I love Autumn. I wish I could be there.
Ah, yet Spring in a land that has had snow is an exciting encouragement of life. Little pieces of colour burst through, there are buds and blooms and colour spuprises. These stand out so much more in a land that isn't evergreen.
Priscilla - please enjoy the seasonal spring veg and fruit. And the colours. Here in Wellington the temperatures and humidity are the same during the day, just a wee bit cooler at night (cat snuggles a little closer) xxxx and care
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for your concern re. my health after the hip-op. My friendly mad gnome neighbours passed on your email. I have been home for almost 1 week now, but haven't been feeling much like blogging. Its still difficult to get around, (using a walking frame for a couple of weeks) but each day it becomes easier.I'll soon be hip-hopping !!
I was sorry to read that you have not been "up to scratch" lately. Hang in there.
Cheers Olive aka Joy
Sounds like you are very blessed right now. I'm glad to hear that things are going well. Autumn is my favorite season. I hope to experience it in other parts of the world one day. Stay blessed.
