Today I received a letter from my bank:
Credit Card Account: XYZ
Balance: $48.76- (its in credit)
Overdue: $0.00
A review today shows that your account is currently overdue for $0.00 and payment of the amount within seven (7) days would be appreciated.
Um - How? The smallest coin here is a 10 cent piece.

I hope this letter was via e-mail because otherwise it was a huge waste of a tree - and I am well aware that NZ prides itself on being "green".

Personally I pay all my bills on-line, with the exception of my rent, which I walk to the office to present my check, every month. So much easier and efficient.
Dear Priscilla, was a paper letter in a paper envelope. I pay the bill online and I do re-use the envelopes from the bank and other sources for shopping lists etc....
Ah, the bank is based and owned in Australia.

Basic computer programmer error. They probably wrote -if account not equal to zero- instead of -if account not equal to or less than zero-
Can you guess I used to be a computer programmer in a past life :-)
Had a few programmes crash on me due to similar error (not programme's I'd written but ones I was responsible for maintaining) - Always happened in the middle of the night too!

Ah, am still needed here. Was advising work today on a bank statement problem (okay - a user input created problem - created at our end).
Given the age, lack of cohesive design and state of this legacy system, I was stunned that the simple solution actually worked. I ended up just making encouraging, comforting sounds from the sideline.
Ah Priscilla, you know my political views are very different... Am delighted that our immediately past Prime Minister, Helen Clark, is off to the No.3 job at the United Nations. Only I'd rather have her back here still as PM.
Oh well, these things happen, yet the blossums still appear, some trees will put an an Autumn show here in a a month's time, meanwhile spiders still seek out a home over Winter in my wee flat just as the lady bird (ladybug) beatles like to hibernate in the nooks and carnnys in my bedroom. Both are welcome, as long as the Ss never find the LBs.
