My rescue cat loves his possessions. They are his, and his alone. He doesn't have to share them or Mickle with anyone else. Here Zeb is sitting on the remains of catnip inpregnated scratch pads one and two. To his right is scratch pad three.
Scratchpad #1 was a Christmas present from my dear Parents for Zeb.
It took 6 months of determined love and happy destruction for Zebby to demolish the scratchpad. He ripped down the sides, so they lay flat and then did the same to the ends. Then determinedly scratch ed on the scratchy bit while also trying to detach this from its base.
Eventually there was only a small strip attached to the base that eventually gave way and was completely shredded over the floor. 6months of effort and Zebbycat fun. The base was left as it is HIS.
Scratchpad #2 : Gettting the hang of it, Zeb soon ripped the scratch pad bit from its base so it was easier for him to move around. The base was still around and left there too - it is all His.
Only three months this time to achieve his glorious demolition and get Mickle to vacuum up all the little bit of corrigated cardboard.
So by now there are the bases and lids from #1 and #2.............. and #3 is given to Zebby in about October 2007.
Sides flattened down again, top worn by scratching and chewing and bites but it still exists. Doesn't look to much worse from last year's photo above....
As a treat after his shaved belly, at the tests and the needles while I was away I bought a new Scratch Pad. A different brand this time.
Zebby loves it, there is even a separate bag of dry catnip for me to sprinkle over from time to time.
Only on this one the outer box is solidly glued all the was around to the inner scratchpad. Much harder to demolish for Zebbycat. He's already applied claws and teeth only to find strong resistance.
And there will be much less vacuuming for Mickle.

What an industrious cat! No wonder he sleeps so much. The poor fellow is just worn out from all that scratching.
How can you not help but love him.
Thanks for the recipes dear Mickle. I am anxious to get at them.
He must be worn out from battling with his scratch pad.
Sorry to hear about the Crohn's & the extensive surgery.Have come across that in several people. Not good.
Doesn't stop my darling menace from still wanting to attack the sofa.
Maggie - I read many food sites because I love cooking and now I keep an eye out for useful gluten free recipes to email the details to Aims, who is a coeliac like your daughter. Am happy to send info to you as well. My email address is in my blogger details if you're interested.
Aaaaahhh...bless the Zebbycat! Got to admire his consistency :)
Yes, dear KB (thinking of Corfu for you)
Howls for rescue from anything catlike or scary outside, he's not a fighter or a defender. Doesn't know how to defend himself from outside threats
Scratchpads can be attacked, they are inside and don't fight back, Zebby is safe.
And Mickle loves Zeb, so continues to change his litter box... a bit more often now he has the start of kidney problems.....
We share my little bathroom - was loo and handbasin with a showerbox off to the side for me. Zeb considers all the room is his, it just happens to have his litter tray in the middle of the floor.
pushes his way in when ever he wants to use his litter box - what the heck is his human doing getting wet all over in her little box with the clear see-through (yet stop him from getting wet) door???
Such a wussy cat, such a huggable darling,
Mickle,
Yes, I know I'm a pussycat pushover
This is a brilliant invention and I guess so much cheaper than those scratch couches.
Ah, so you're tricking Zeb!
I'm sure Zebbycat is plotting destruction of the latest scratch pad even as I type! Bless him!
Hi Mickle - and Zebbycat of course. Thought it was about time I got over here to see you! I need t bookmark you and "follow" and I won't forget to come!
Zebby seems to have had plenty of fun demolishing and putting his mark on those scratch pad thingies. He is a handsome soul though.
Lots of love and huggles to you and Zebbycat from us here with those six bundles of fluff.
What a cute picture! As soon as I opened your site I thought...oh my what did Mr Zebby do?
He is such a darling.
Hi,Mickle, I'm not a cat lover, as you know, but I had to put my latest post on the blog! xx
Hello Mickle
Nice to see you the other day - not sure Federal Parliament would want a veggie garden on the roof tho lol
The Lodge is actually the PM's residence so it would be of more use there:))
Anyway the puss of yours is one destructive feline isn't he - have you tried a wooden carpet covered scratching post at all?
Take care
Cathy
Hi Cathy,
He won't touch the carpet covered scratch post. I'm happy for him to work on the cardboard ones, saves him scratching me!
he is sitting there as if butter wouldnt melt in his mouth lol...
x
Ah, Zebbiecat will not give up on this Mickle my girl! He's only just begun the ultimate destruction...looks like a very determined Zeb to me!
hugs
Sandi
I have to get a scratching post for Hagia, or one of those scratch pads...she's recently decided that the energy-sucking couch needs to have less stuffing...
sigh...

Dearest Michelle! This is exactly what my apartment looks like right now - i.e., what's happened to my moving boxes (and they weren't even impregnated with catnip!!!) Love and hugs!!!! xxoxoxoxox
