All okay here....

News will be filtering out to the World about a big earthquake in New Zealand.

It occurred down in the South Island. Was apparantly noticed in the lower North Island but not by me.

The Govy's Civil Defence procedures have kicked in promptly and the area down South has been declared a Civil Defence Emergency Zone. The worst I've heard is of items tumbling off shelves and power blackouts to a few hundred homes.

Tsunami warnings have been issued to try to keep people away from the western coastlines "just in case".

Mickle and Zebby are fine and are now heading to bed. Yes, we live way up high.

Good to hear indeed that you are all ok there :)

I have a friend from London who also lives on the North island and they are ok and all.

Jolly good to hear that it didn't reach the north isle. I hope no one "down south" has been hurt.

Happy to report no imjuries to Humans. It is a mostly uninhabited part of NZ.

Some damage to buildings - cracks appearing etc... but nothing major. NZ has a very strict building code because of the many earthquakes we get.

She was a good one - went on for over a minute. After all these are "The Shaky Isles".

Mickle and Zeb live on top of one the major faultlines, huggles!
