Three Scarves and a Hat

Pete tries on his present - the Bamboo scarf!

Mum, Pete and Liz model "Mickle Knitting"

Mum and Liz's scarves are each made from a hand dyed 2 ply Marino and Kid Mohair mix
from NZ company Touch Yarns.

-----
I made Pete's hat a few years ago from scrap woollen yarn.

The big picture to the right of Pete hanging on the wall is Liz's work - it is woven and shows

Mum with her parents and a young Liz

That picture which appears to be a black and white photo is woven? Cool. Nice Mickle-knit work. Hug Zebbycat from Thor, who doesn't have to hide from thunder today!

Dear Mickle, I am better at crocheting...my mum was the knitter, but now she does cross-stitch. Amanda and I tried knitting and liked it, but as with many things in life, I have the attention span of a gnat! So we set the knitting aside, for a later date (but I'm a procrastinator, too, so...)...I am SO impressed by YOUR skill!! Uhhhh, did I ever mention how cold my feet get in winter? Just sayin'...! Great photo of the happy, WARM family...all thanks to you :))

Hey Zebby, keep close to mummy 'cause she needs your personal purring!

I have the basic, very basics, of crochet.

After Zebby took over my fluffy scarves I knitted a great big fluffy square for him, and ...... Zeb sticks to the scarves.

Will ask dear Liz for more info on the incredible weaving. I know she scanned a photo into a computer type device, and the weaving is of a jacquard type, will find out more to share.

Liz was in the very final part of a Fine Arts Honours Degree (majoring in textiles) when she made this piece as a gift for Mum's 65th birthday.

And Mum unded up in hospital at the time, recovering the hard way from open heart surgery for a double bypass. Mum made the 5% that have a tough recovery. Most in hospital for a week, dear Mum was there for a month.

That was seven years ago .... Mum is now way better than before the big op, and cutting and sewing quilts like billyo.

Will track down info from Liz soon..........

Don't you love it when the word verifications are just hilarious...... what is a "wootberm"?

Awesome knitting! That's a great photo with everyone modeling their knitted items! I enjoy knitting, but I'm a complete novice. That woven picture is so cool. I want to learn how to quilt ... I love looking at the quilts at the state fair every year. :-)
